Whether I am explaining flood risk, engineering problems or business growth, I prefer practical examples and real-world metaphors over technical jargon. My aim is simple: make complex ideas understandable, memorable and useful.
Whether speaking to engineering students, business owners, policymakers or industry professionals, I focus on honest lessons, practical insights and stories people can take away and use.

Why people invite me
Most people know me as an engineer, but the reason I am often invited to speak is my ability to make engineering understandable.
Whether advising homeowners, developers, insurers, local authorities, government bodies or the media, my role is often the same: turning technical information into something practical, understandable and useful.
I am regularly invited to speak on flooding, resilience, engineering, entrepreneurship and how emerging technologies are reshaping the profession. My talks draw on the experience of building businesses from a young age, working across the public and private sectors, and navigating the challenges that come with leadership and growth.
One of the themes I often explore is that engineering opens far more doors than it closes. Engineering taught me how to solve problems, communicate ideas and think critically. Those skills have taken me far beyond traditional engineering roles and into business, policy, media and leadership.
Whether I am speaking to students, professionals or business leaders, my aim is simple: to show how technical expertise, curiosity and clear communication can create opportunities in places you might never expect.
"Engineering was the foundation. The opportunities that followed were the reward for being curious enough to build on it."

Invite Simon to speak
Most of my time is spent working with clients, leading businesses and solving complex engineering challenges. However, I have always enjoyed sharing ideas, encouraging the next generation of engineers and discussing the lessons learned from business, leadership and resilience.
If your audience would benefit from those experiences, I would be pleased to discuss how I might contribute.
